Description | A general introduction to the visual arts designed to create an appreciation of the vocabulary, media, techniques, and purposes of the creative process. Students will critically interpret and evaluate works of art (painting, sculpture, architecture) within formal, cultural, and historical contexts. | ||||||||

Late Work
Every assignment, essay, quiz, and test in this class will have a due date assigned on Blackboard. For everyday beyond the due date of the assignment, points will be deducted from your grade for that student work.
10 points will be deducted for every week that the student work is late. Students will be held accountable for their class work.
Expectations
To do well in this course, plan on a minimum of at least 5-6 hours of work per week that will be dedicated to reading, writing, and chapter assignments for each chapter. The information you gather will be used in preparation for the major tests. Unless otherwise directed, I will assign a average of 1 chapter per week to study. There is a lot of course material to cover in this class so please don’t fall behind. It will be hard to make up course material if you do so.
Determination of Final Grade
Tests 40% - There will be three major tests this semester totaling 40% of the final grade. Each test will cover allotted chapters from your text book. All content from each test will be taken from your textbook and any videos or lectures connected to each chapter. Each test will be a 30-50 question multiple choice test. Roughly ten questions per chapter.
Test 1 - Ch. 1-5
Test 2- Ch. 6-10
Test 3- Ch. 11-13
30% Chapter Quizzes Each chapter that will be assigned to every student will have online quiz questions that will be required to be completed after every chapter. These will accompany the reading assignments for each chapter and be issued on Blackboard.
30% Chapter Assignments- Each chapter will have an assignment that is specially designed to implement the content discussed in each chapter. These assignments must be uploaded to the assignment link on Blackboard to get credit for your grade.

If there are any updates for class I will contact you via email (through the campus email with reminders, changes or any other pertinent information. Please check your email at once per day to make sure there are any important updates. It is your responsibility to manage your mailbox so that lines of communication are open and available.

Attendance Policy |
Attendance
Research has shown a cause and effect relationship between attendance and college success. Students are required to attend/participate in the class. Unless it’s a major emergency I will not reset assignments. Not turning in the Essay assignment will result in failure of the class. Plagiarism is unacceptable in a college environment and penalties will be assessed. 100% plagiarism on any item will result in failure of the class. Attendance Policy - You will start with 100 points. For every assignment you miss, or, are late on I will deduct 5 points. Example - if you missed 3 assignments I would deduct 15 points and your attendance grade would be 85. After 7 unexcused absences your final grade for the class will be an F. Set any personal appointments before or after class. Make sure and read and understand the Syllabus for classroom attendance policy.
